For the last several decades most of the states in the country have been experimenting with state run lotteries and Powerball. Powerball is a form of state wide Bingo almost. In Powerball, you get to choose the numbers you hope will be pulled from a rotating drum or special lottery machine. I’m sure almost all of us have thought about winning the big jackpot. I mean, almost everyone at one point has bought a lottery ticket or visited a casino. Well, for one man over the past week, that big dream has finally come true. The man has claimed a prize for Friday’s MEGA Millions draw that would see him pocket more than $296,000.
Although there are thousands upon thousands participating in California Gambling and Lotteries, Steve Dotson was the big winner that would claim the prize. He purchased his ticket through Mission Liquors located at 39945 Mission Blvd. in Fremont. The big winning was officially verified by officials on Wednesday of this week. Now Steve will be able to live a little bit easier and live the dream that so many of us spend our days at work fantasizing about.
The winning ticket would hit five of six numbers that were included in the winning draw. The official payout was a hefty $297,762. Had he hit the sixth and final California lottery number, the Mega number, the payout could have been much larger. However for this modest working class man the money will certainly come in handy. While many of us may dream about purchasing a big house and speedboat with our money, or maybe a vacation, Steve plans to spend his money in a much more modest fashion. He says that he will start with paying some bills and freeing him and his family of some debt. After that he states he may fulfill his long awaited dream of purchasing a new convertible car and possibly a new truck as well. He then says the rest of the remaining money will go towards savings stated lottery officials. The dream of winning the big jackpot is something that absolutely everyone has thought about at one point or another.
For one man, Steve Dotson, that has come true and for those around him, the dream has become a little bit closer. Its stories like these that allow people the confidence they need to keep purchasing lottery tickets and it’s certainly the reason that this writer will continue to do so. Some do not want to support the lottery corporations or think it is a waste of money. The fact of the matter is that for a few meager dollars we can all be a little bit closer to the dream.
